Alternative Products
Bentonite polymer compositions (BPC) for the production of pellets, sinter and briquettes are innovative products that allow the creation of binder additives with properties different from previously used materials.
Bentonite polymer compositions (BPC)
Bentonite polymer compositions (BPC) are obtained by combining an organic polymer and an inorganic part of the composite structure – bentonite into a single hybrid material, which predetermines its exceptional properties and increases its functionality as a binder additive. The use of bentonite and polymer in a single complex ensures stable interparticle bonds within the pellet due to the amphiphilic properties of the polymer binder. Hydrophobic chains of BPC are firmly bound to each other, and hydrophilic ones – to the iron ore surface. When the charge interacts with water, a polymer-bentonite gel is formed, which has increased binding capacity and forms the structure of raw pellet, resistant to dynamic and static loads.
Interpolymer binder (IPB)
Interpolymer binder (IPB) is a polymer complex, a combination of two or more polymers with different degree of hydrolysis and molecular weight, subjected to mechanochemical activation with the addition of inorganic components. IPB is used to optimize the particle size distribution, increase the strength properties of sinter charge granules and sinter strength in the production of sinter at the sinter plant.
