Bentonite products for HDD
The installation of utility systems is a key element of infrastructure development. Therefore, underground utility systems (utility networks) are being installed and reconstructed everywhere.
The most optimal method for utility systems installation is horizontal directional drilling (HDD). HDD allows to work under operating roads, structures, water bodies and other infrastructure facilities. Bentonite is the base for HDD drilling fluid.
The requirements for HDD bentonite:
- Specific structural, rheological and filtration properties of the drilling fluid – for effective cleaning of a drilling channel from drilled rock and stability of the well walls;
- Bentonite high swelling rate – drilling fluid preparation takes no more than 15–20 minutes;
- Ultra-low sand content (less than 1%) to reduce equipment abrasive wear;
- Eco-friendliness.
Considering all the requirements, the Bentonite Group’s enterprise Krasnodar Plant of Industrial Minerals (KZPM) produces special bentonite of I-Bent series. I-Bent series products are made of high-quality raw materials from the Tagansky bentonite clay deposit (Kazakhstan) with a montmorillonite content of 90% or more.
All products of the I-Bent series have the required permitting documents: safety data sheets, certificates of conformity, radiological examination protocols.
