ORGANOCLAY ORGANOBENT® IN THE OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY
Organoclay is used for oil-based drilling muds (OBM) and emulsion-based OBMs, which are used for drilling flat and horizontal wells with complex profiles, as well as for initial penetration of low-permeability pay zones.
The use of ORGANOBENT® as a part of the OBMs provides:
- high electrical stability (more than 700V) with an optimal combination of thermal stability, sedimentation and aggregative stability of emulsions in the presence of organoclay microparticles;
- required viscosity, thixotropy and structural characteristics;
- high carrying capacity and stabilisation of weighting agent particles in suspension;
- formation of a structured filtration crust and reduction of water yield;
- unlimited salt resistance, high clay capacity, resistance to CO2 and H2S, corrosion resistance, possibility of solution weighting up to specific gravity of 2.2 g/cm, high lubricating properties.
Organobent® for OBMs produced by KZPM JSC has passed pilot tests at Rosneft, Tatneft and Novatek facilities. It is recommended in compositions of direct and invert-emulsion drilling muds.
